Building on emerging skills
The curriculum focuses on reading, writing, thinking, gross and fine motor skills, and social and emotional development. Children have opportunities to build on the foundations they are developing as learners.
Understanding before rushing ahead
Readiness does not look the same for every child. One child may want to tell a long story; another may be absorbed in sorting or noticing patterns. A Montessori perspective encourages adults to take these interests seriously and consider the next useful challenge.
Confidence includes asking for help
Growing independence still leaves room for support. Trying an idea, explaining a difficulty, and accepting guidance all belong in the learning process. We want families to see preparation for the next stage as broader than a list of academic targets.
